routine for pre-workout.. good or bad idea?

-run a mile right when i go to the gym
-record my time
-beat that time the next time i go
-right after, stretch
-then go into main workout or exercise
gym 5x’s a week
does that seem like a good idea? … experts, fitness trainers, and people that know what they’re talking about answer please
extra bonus: if you have any tips please reply!
additional question: should i weight train before or after i go into my main exercise, which by the way changes everyday
